James Joseph Croce (January 10, 1943 – September 20, 1973) was an American folk and rock singer-songwriter. Between 1966 and 1973, Croce released five studio albums and numerous singles. He was killed, along with five others, in a plane crash on September 20, 1973, at the height of his popularity.

Franz Josef Aumann received his musical training as a choirboy in Vienna, together with Michael Haydn and Johann Georg Albrechtsberger. At the age of 25, he joined St Florian's Abbey, where he took over the choir just two years later and then directed the church music for over four decades.

One such artist was Jim Croce, a songwriter with a knack for both upbeat, catchy singles and empathetic, melancholy ballads. In April 1985, Madonna began her first concert tour. ‘The Virgin Tour’, with the Beastie Boys as her opening act, was initially planned for an international audience, but ultimately it was restricted to the United States and Canada. After an official announcement on March 15, 1985, Madonna and her team began production plans. She wanted it to be a reflection of her own self and she collaborated with designer Maripol for the costumes. She progressed from playing CBGBs and the Mudd Club to playing large sporting arenas at this juncture in her career. The tour saw the peak of the Madonna wannabe phenomenon, with lots of female attendees dressing like her. While still on the tour, Penthouse and Playboy magazines published nude photos of her, taken in New York in 1978. The publication of the photos caused a media uproar, but Madonna remained unapologetic and defiant, telling the crowd at the 1985 Live Aid concert that she wouldn’t “take shit off today, as the media might hold it against me ten years from now”. A month or so before Live Aid, Madonna played three nights at Universal City in L.A., of which the final night - 28th April ’85 - was recorded for FM broadcast around California, and synced across America and many other parts of the world. This CD release contains the entire performance she gave that night, a fine example of Madonna live at the point in her career when she was on the brink of world domination.

CLASSIC '71 SABBATH BROADCAST FROM DENMARK'S CAPITAL CITY Formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath are the pioneers of heavy metal music in the UK, a position long-now established and accepted by the rock cognoscenti. The band helped define the genre with their first three albums Black Sabbath (1970), Paranoid (1970) and Master of Reality (1971). Sabbath were touring heavily in 1970 - 1971, promoting their second album, Paranoid, and recording Masters Of Reality while on the road across the US and Europe. On 14th April ‘71, they began a short Scandinavian leg of the tour, which took them to Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Generally considered the very finest of these concerts, their gig at Copenhagen’s Faulkner Theatre – the fifth performance of the jaunt on the 18th, and recorded for live radio broadcast - was a classic Sabbath show. Ten days later, the Paranoid tour was over, culminating with another dynamic gig at London’s Albert Hall on 26th April.

As handsome as this package is – or in the case of the super limited edition, housed in a working guitar amp, as ridiculous – Backtracks is essentially just a clearinghouse for AC/DC rarities, rounding up all the released tracks and videos that have yet to appear on a collection, throwing in a full-length DVD of 2003 for good measure. Although Sweet were largely known for their glam rock image, and several hit singles — many of them being so-called teenage anthems — they also released several albums throughout a ten year career.

If there is one group that embodies progressive rock, it is King Crimson. Led by guitar/Mellotron virtuoso Robert Fripp, during its first five years of existence the band stretched both the language and structure of rock into realms of jazz and classical music, all the while avoiding pop and psychedelic sensibilities. The absence of mainstream compromises and the lack of an overt sense of humor ultimately doomed the group to nothing more than a large cult following, but it made their albums some of the most enduring and respectable of the prog rock era.
