Atomhenge, the label home for the Hawkwind catalog between 1975 - 1997, is pleased to announce the release of The Emergency Broadcast Years 1994 - 1997; a five CD set comprising all three of Hawkwind's single albums and one double album originally released by the Emergency Broadcast label between 1994 and 1997. The Business Trip Live, Alien 4, the double set Love in Space and Distant Horizons. These recordings saw a streamlined Hawkwind enjoy a new period of acclaim. With vocalist Ron Tree as an onstage front man, the band's live concerts of the period were memorable affairs and were perfectly captured on the double album Love in Space". The remaining trio of albums in this collection saw further development of the band, making Hawkwind a vital force for the 1990s. This official clamshell boxed set features each album in a replica card sleeve wallet and includes an illustrated poster.

Released a year after Dressed To Kill's four-CD import package The Entire & Infinite Universe of Hawkwind, this is the American recycling of the same Masters of the Universe, Bring Me the Head of Yuri Gagarin, Space Ritual, Vol. 2, and Text of Festival live albums, brought to you by a label, Cleopatra, whose early-'90s championing of Hawkwind was, in many ways, responsible for the resurgence in popularity that the band has since enjoyed. Certainly, at a time when other labels seemed to care only for mercenary repackages and shoddy compilations, Cleopatra went out of its way to invent fresh and exciting ways of looking at Hawkwind's back catalog – which may explain why this release is so disappointing. Three shows comprise the four discs, and they're precisely the same three that comprise around 30 other live Hawkwind albums: Wembley 1973, Brixton 1972, and, duplicated over both discs one and four, a mix of 1970-1971 BBC sessions and similar-era live improv. In other words, if you've ever spent money on a budget-priced, early-'70s Hawkwind live album, you already own at least one-third of this. And if you've bought three – you do the math.

Don Fagerquist (1927-1974) might be one of the most underrated jazz trumpets in history despte countless recordings with Gene Krupa, Artie Shaw, Woody Herman, Les Brown and Dave Pell. Although he was a Hollywood studio musician since 1956, over the years Don Fagerquist mantained his contact with the jazz scene, as these tracks can prove. He had a unique sound and phrasing that immediatley identified him, allowing us at once to appreciate Don's playing. This CD is more than a collection of mood music and jazz tunes: it is a delighful, warm and descriptive musical portrait of a great jazz musician.
