Two CD set. Dead or Alive have sold more than 30 million albums and 25 million singles worldwide and gave Stock Aitken Waterman their first #1 single in 1985. Their first three self-penned albums, all reached the UK Top 30, with 'Youthquake' reaching the Top 10. Working with the band's later recordings, legendary producer, Pete 'Mixmaster' Hammond, has undertaken a throwback hi NRG remix project, completely re-playing and reworking 11 of the Band's recordings, in the classic '80s sound. These remixes are a retro take on those newer songs as to how they might have sounded. To illustrate the complexity of the project, each song is built up of between 130 to 190 track parts (i.e. drums, guitars, bass lines, synths and vocals). The album includes remixes of versions of four of their biggest hits, the Japanese #2 hit 'Hit And Run Lover', through to their most recent album, 'Fan The Flame (Part 2). This version is packaged as a 2CD set in Seven Inch Deluxe Gatefold Packaging, with 8-page page booklet containing an intro note with the backstory behind the album's concept.

Previously unreleased in full, this celebrated live performance recorded live in 1977 for wcoz that originally appeared on "The name of this band is talking heads" is available as a 2lp collection. Cut at 45rpm and featuring fourteen tracks (seven are previously unheard from the original two-track tapes) recorded at northern studios on november 17, 1977, this blistering performances includes "Psycho killer", "Pulled up", "Uh-oh, love comes to town", "A clean break (let's work)" and more. 140g 2lp black vinyl.

It All Comes Down to This is the brand new album from Manchester legends A Certain Ratio, produced by Speedy Wunderground’s Dan Carey. This album takes A Certain Ratio back to their roots, featuring 10 straight-to-the-point tracks, with a sprinkling of electronics for good measure. It is the first time the band has recorded as the core 3-piece lineup of Jez Kerr, Martin Moscrop, and Donald Johnson, with no additional collaborators or members of the live setup. Following on from ACR's acclaimed 1982 album and the electrifying 2023 EP, It All Comes Down to This continues the lineage of constant progression demonstrated by the band.

7th March 2023 marked the 40th anniversary of the release of one of the all-time great debut albums, The Hurting by Tears for Fears featuring the hit singles ‘Mad World’, ‘Change’ and ‘Pale Shelter’. I have remixed the album for the occasion in Dolby Atmos, 5.1 surround and instrumental stereo, all fully approved by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. The Dolby Atmos mix is available for streaming on supported platforms, but the 5.1 and instrumental stereo mixes are included (along with the Atmos mix) on a standalone blu-ray audio disc issued by Virgin/UMR and exclusively for sale via Super Deluxe Edition. The blu-ray additionally features the original stereo master. As if that wasn’t enough my stereo mixes of two recently rediscovered earlier recordings of ‘Mad World’ & ‘Watch Me Bleed’ made at sessions with producer Mike Howlett prior to the album versions will also be exclusive to the blu-ray. These tracks were found on the multitrack reels, possibly having never been mixed before. Even Roland and Curt had not heard them for 40 years!

Cold wave duo The KVB are back with news of their new album ‘Tremors’ which is being released on 5 April via Invada Records (Gazelle Twin, Beak, Billy Nomates). This news comes after a brand new single and video lifted from the record, ‘Labyrinths’, on which The KVB return to the darker sound that embodied their earliest releases whilst retaining the infectious pop of their last album ‘Unity’ which MOJO described as having a “sense of wonderment throughout”.

Nothing if not prolific, albums of world-class song-smithery having been pouring out of Phil Thornalley in recent years. Initially under the Astral Drive moniker and more recently plying his craft under his solo ‘brand’. Of course, Thornalley has been honing his writing chops for a while. Since well before the big hits he became most known for (Natalie Imbruglia, Bryan Adams, Pixie Lott, etc).

Founded by the American songwriter Kenny Young, who had previously been a founder member of Fox, the band enjoyed a smash Top 10 hit in the UK Singles Chart in 1978 with "Just One More Night".

This album covers the period 1979 to 1987 and features 14 tracks. When punk rock started to fizzle out and Squat Punks started to appear on the streets, many of the UK's disaffected youths had already moved sideways into Modernism and fell in love with bands like The Jam, Secret Affair, The Purple Hearts, The Lambrettas and The Chords but lets also remember our love for The Beat, Madness and The Specials. Mod was another gang culture, to some a way of life, to some it became life. The smart, striking fashion sense, the scooters, the music; (some from the 60's, soul and Motown), some from the 70's and 80's, guitar driven power pop. Wow! Mod was the real deal.
