Renewing the original material, which is already exacerbated by reinterpretations, is a continuous challenge for every interpreter. Morphing Landscapes begins its journey through sound and its transformation, shifting attention to contemporaneity, not so much from the perspective of eternal content, but regarding timbre and the possibilities we have today to create new suggestions by transforming sound over time. For the Cello Suites, Robert Schumann imagines and writes a piano accompaniment.

Performed by Jillian Forster Fair (piano), the Emily Carr String Quartet (Müge Büyükçelen-Badel, violin 1; Cory Balzer, violin 2; Mieka Michaux, viola; Alasdair Money, cello) and Bruce Meikle (double bass), the album is released through Leaf Music Distribution. Conceived as a continuous musical narrative, the recording unfolds as an immersive journey, extending beyond the format of a standard concert presentation.

To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the legendary Quatuor Habanera (Paris), the Swiss-Slovenian saxophonist Maja Lisac Barroso presented the formation with an immense but fascinating challenge. The artist spent two years listening to Schubert’s masterpiece every day, researching the work and its genesis, before finally arranging it for five saxophones. The result?
