Strangely enough, my perspective as a non-guitarist informs my profound appreciation of Max Light, an artist whom I am grateful not only to recognize as a peer and collaborator, but also as a deep inspiration and ever-warming bonfire in the often challenging journeys of art and life.

ECM legend Arild Andersen, one of Norway's leading bassists for over 30 years, forges promising relationships with two rising stars - Daniel Sommer (drums) and Rob Luft (guitar) - in an expansive, playful exploration of song and collective improvisation.

“Back in the day” I had the pleasure of interviewing Andreas Varady who, at the time, was just 13 years old and an already great player. Since then, he has continued on his musical journey and has had some amazing stops along the way with the likes of Qunicy Jones and George Benson. He has also kept busy performing all across the globe and has released five albums as a leader to date. Well, there is now going to be a sixth album added to his expanding catalog. Audrey Powne's stunning debut album, From The Fire, is set to be one of those must have LPs in any music lover's collection. Something of an auteur release it features nine tracks all composed by Audrey, with all string arrangements and all produced by her. Audrey's decision to produce the whole album herself came from a desire to take creative control of her music and apply techniques developed from the influences of the producers she had previously worked with. If all of the above were not enough Audrey also wrote the lyrics for those tracks on which she sings, and as a multi-instrumentalist contributes piano, Rhodes and organ. She also features as a trumpeter with dextrous and soaring solos as evidenced by the two single releases so far; Feed The Fire and the title track, From The Fire.

Ben Goldberg is an American clarinet player and composer. In the early 1990s, Ben Goldberg performed alongside electric bassist Dan Seamans and percussionist Kenny Wollesen as the New Klezmer Trio. They went on to produce three albums and the free improvisation on "Masks and Faces" was described as having "kicked open the door for radical experiments with Ashkenazi roots music." Goldberg's musicality has influenced and inspired local musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Pianist and composer, Andy Milne is thrilled to present Time Will Tell, a new album recorded with his trio Unison dropping April 26, 2024, on Sunnyside Records. Milne’s latest collaboration with bassist John Hébert and drummer Clarence Penn is a sparkling exploration of identity and destiny, showcasing Milne’s ever- evolving craft. It follows the trio’s The ReMission (2020), winner of Jazz Album of the Year: Group at the 2021 Juno Awards.

The album title “As Many, as One” isn’t present as a track title, but reveals itself across the album under broader concepts. I think it’s important to shed light on a few of these themes as they become clear with each track…

Gravado com produção musical de Pupillo e Adrian Younge, produtor musical norte-americano cujo estúdio está situado em Los Angeles (EUA), Novela é o primeiro disco de inéditas da artista em cinco anos, já que o último, APKÁ!, foi lançado em 2019.
Mas o último álbum de Céu, Um gosto de sol, saiu novembro de 2021, apresentando abordagens da cantora para músicas conhecidas nas vozes de nomes como Alcione, João Gilberto (1931 – 2019), Morris Albert e Rita Lee (1947 – 2023).

The Saxophone Colossus Sonny Rollins had already recorded three Blue Note studio dates for Alfred Lion—Sonny Rollins, Sonny Rollins, Vol. 2, and Newk’s Time—by the time he walked down the stairs of the Village Vanguard on November 3, 1957 to record his first-ever live album, as well as the first-ever live album to be recorded at the iconic New York City jazz club: A Night at the Village Vanguard. Rollins’ tour-de-force live trio album was predominantly captured at the evening set featuring Wilbur Ware on bass and Elvin Jones on drums with two pieces coming from the afternoon set featuring Donald Bailey on bass and Pete La Roca on drums.

Composer, singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Laufey continues her story by writing and recording Bewitched, her second album. Inspired by jazz greats and classical masters while possessing a point of view that could only be conveyed by a 21st-century twentysomething, Bewitched represents an expansion of Laufey's sonic palette. Tracks like the breezy bossa nova cut "From The Start" and the smoldering string-assisted ballad "Promise" have classic songcraft and intricate arrangements that make them feel instantly timeless, while Laufey's conversational lyrics give her music a relatability to the next generation of jazz, pop, and classical aficionados.
