Gregory Groover's Criss Cross debut, recorded on the Boston born-and-bred tenor saxophonist's thirtieth birthday, is a tour de force. Joined by a bespoke sextet of his favorite players, all New York-based, Groover presents a recital of 11 original tone-parallels to family and friends, his intentions anticipated, illuminated and fulfilled by his gifted bandmates.

Reel To Real returns with more top notch live archival music from Bob Mover and Walter Davis Jr. Recorded in Salerno, the recording beautifully captures the short-­lived duo association between two musical legends deserving greater attention.

I'm so excited to have the opportunity to record again with Champian in the duo format. I'm very proud of our first album Dream A Little…. but our friendship and musical partnership has grown so much since that recording and the opportunity to record again is something I'm very grateful for. Gene Ammons was one of the founders of the Chicago style of tenor saxophone playing but was often in the shadow of his tenor-playing contemporaries, Dexter Gordon, Wardell Gray, and Sonny Stitt. Despite this he forged a lasting partnership with Stitt, recording some classic tenor battles in the 1950s.

The effects of the bebop revolution in jazz music are still being felt and explored. Of the half dozen true pioneers of the movement, pianist Bud Powell has remained somewhat in the shadows, although his work has become a major touchstone for true devotees of the music and a principal influence for most of jazz’s most explorative pianists.

“Rome has something to say.” This is the message trumpeter Francesco Fratini delivers on his sensual, cool-as-can-be debut EP Homemade that dropped on March 11, 2022. The Italian native cut his teeth during a years-long residency in New York, returning to his hometown Rome with a deep love for Black American music, and a desire to lead the way in building up his city’s jazz scene. Working as a collective with longtime friends Giuseppe Romagnoli (bass) and Matteo Bultrini (drums), Fratini has created a set of originals that melds elements of cool jazz, bebop, and hip hop, mixing in a few timeless classics for good measure. It is a debut that puts the rest of the world, New York included, on notice.

Bruno Pilloix started playing the guitar at the age of 10 before turning back to saxophone & be-bop music. He has been composing for Kosinus for more than 15 years. His work goes from rock metal to light folk music. His new original album Un autre regard features 11 all-new originals!

Hallgeir Pedersen Trio plays hard swinging jazz of an international format and offers a unique and entertaining jazz experience. Bop-related numbers, groovy beats and blue-lyrical ballads are presented. Repertoire consists of selected standards with the main emphasis on strongly self-composed material. Riitta Paakki Quartet's music is irresistibly effortless. The new album is inspired by nature, visual arts, music and places dear to composer Paakki. Her swinging and clear piano playing style meets Manuel Dunkel's powerful and nuanced saxophone sound, and the whole is completed by the bubbling rhythm section of Antti Lötjönen and Joonas Riippa. In the more up-tempo tunes you can hear echos of the bebop tradition, and the calmer compositions paint traditional Finnish landscapes.

The debut album from this all-star UK based Quintet, featuring the UK's finest jazz musicians. Five-Way Split is a new jointly led band which was formed in 2020 and features some of the finest contemporary jazz bebop musicians in the UK.
