Textbook of Tinnitus, Second Edition (Repost)

Textbook of Tinnitus, Second Edition by Winfried Schlee, Berthold Langguth, Dirk De Ridder, Sven Vanneste, Tobias Kleinjung, Aage R. Møller
English | EPUB (True) | 2024 | 785 Pages | ISBN : 3031356462 | 99.3 MB

This book describes the theoretical background of the different forms of tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and detailed knowledge of state-of-the-art treatments of tinnitus. Tinnitus has many forms, and the severity ranges widely from being non-problematic to severely affecting a person’s daily life. How loud the tinnitus is perceived does not directly relate to how much it distresses the patient. Thus, even tinnitus very close to the hearing threshold can be a disabling symptom. It can reduce the quality of life by generating anxiety and concentration problems, impairing the ability to do intellectual work, making it difficult to sleep, causing depression and sometimes even leading to suicide.

Raynaud’s Phenomenon: From Pathogenesis to Management by Fredrick M. Wigley, Ariane L. Herrick, Nicholas A. Flavahan
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 44 Pages | ISBN : 3031525809 | 85.5 MB

This book comprehensively reviews the understanding of a disorder that continues to challenge primary care clinicians and specialists. Raynaud’s phenomenon is an inappropriate and exaggerated response of the digital and cutaneous circulation to cold environmental temperatures. It is common, often causing significant morbidity and it is a major challenge for physicians at every level and specialty. A comprehensive review of Raynaud’s is now timely because of the incredible progress in understanding the molecular mechanisms of the normal regulation of cutaneous blood flow and how disease can disrupt the function of these specialized vessels. Likewise, the clinical implications of Raynaud’s phenomenon are better appreciated with studies defining its prevalence, the associated diseases, and new treatment approaches for patients suffering from it. The nomenclature used to classify cases has changed over the years and is important to understand these terms both for clinical care andresearch.

Atlas of Diagnostic Nuclear Medicine by Anisah Helou
English | PDF | 2001 | 396 Pages | ISBN : 3662058898 | 45.2 MB

Nuclear medicine is a relatively young medical discipline. Serious work with medical radioisotopes began at German universities in 1950. Before the first production facilities were established in Europe, radioisotopes had to be flown into Germany from the United States. As a result, radionuclide studies could not be performed during inclement weather. The German Roentgenographic Society was the first professional society to recognize the importance of nuclear medi- eine as a specialty and founded the Association for the Study of Radioisotopes (RIAG). Next came the Association for the Study of Radioisotopes in Internal Medicine (ARIGIM), whose first large sym- posium, held in Freiburg in 1962, had an attendance of approximately 100. On February 22,1963, the director of the former Czerny Hospital in Heidelberg, Prof. Becker, ended the rivalry between the two soci- eties by persuading Prof. von Hevesy, a Nobel Prize winner, to serve as the first joint chairman. Shortly thereafter, the Society of Nuclear Medicine was founded at the request of small groups of European specialists. By its tenth annual meeting, the Society had a roster of 600 members from 22 countries.
