Nancy Vieira's clear and direct voice tells of the stories, dreams and longings, pains and joys of the people of Cape Verde. People all over the world fall into reverent silence when her voice captivates an entire country. Nancy Vieira's music is full of subtleties, rich in harmonic twists and represents a new generation of Cape Verdean artists. The special magic of "Gente" lies in the traditional sounds and their points of contact with the here and now. These points also lie in the narrow streets of Lisbon, the nature of Brazil and the percussion of African rhythms.

Nancy Vieira comes from the Cape Verdean island of Boa Vista, she grew up in the African Santiago and the nomadic São Vicente and started her musical career in Lisbon, the capital of fado and pop. "GENTE", Nancy Vieira's new album, is the follow-up to "Manhã Florida" from 2018 and demonstrates a remarkable artistic ambition. It is a work that has been slowly conceived, polished, planned and meticulously perfected. "Gente" is a work of encounters, of stories, of ideas, but above all of people.

The album was recorded in the historic Namouche Studio in Lisbon and in the studio of Peruvian musician Jorge Cervantes, who can also be heard on the album and contributed some of the arrangements. Musically, Nancy Vieiras travels to places that she already knows well from the stage. The sound of Lisbon, where the singer studied and lived for a long time, is particularly present. Some of her musicians come from there, such as percussionist Iuri Oliveira, one of the driving forces behind the album. She is joined by international musicians such as Mário Lúcio and Vaiss Dias from the Cape Verde Islands, Olmo Marin from the Basque Country, the two accordionists Luciano Maia and Gustavo Nunes from Brazil and the violinist Denys Stetsenko from the Ukraine.
