New Frontiers in Plant-Environment Interactions: Innovative Technologies and Developments by Tariq Aftab
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 571 Pages | ISBN : 3031437284 | 60.3 MB

This book provides information about plant–environment studies and challenges for plant improvement to achieve food security. Plants face a wide range of environmental challenges, which are expected to become more intense as a result of global climate change. Plant–environment interactions play an important role in the functioning of ecosystems. There are habitats throughout the world that present challenges to crop plants, such as through a lack of water and excessive, or toxic, salts in the soil. Soil properties represent a strong selection pressure for plant diversity and influence the structure of plant communities and participate to the generation and maintenance of biodiversity. Plant communities selected by environment grow by modifying soil physical, chemical, and biological properties, with consequent effects on survival and growth of plants. The complexity of plant–environment interactions has recently been studied by developing a trait-based approach in which responses and effects of plants on environment were quantified and modeled. This fundamental research on plant–environment interaction in ecosystems is essential to transpose knowledges of functional ecology to environmental management.

Survival Strategies in Cold-adapted Microorganisms

Survival Strategies in Cold-adapted Microorganisms by Reeta Goel, Ravindra Soni, Deep Chandra Suyal, Mahejibin Khan
English | EPUB | 2022 | 435 Pages | ISBN : 9811626243 | 15.6 MB

Extremophiles have unique physiological properties, thus considered to be ideal candidates for industrial development. This book present concepts on cold-adapted microorganisms, centered on four different aspects - (i) diversity of cold adapted microbes (ii) their ecology, physiology and metabolism (iii) omics research in the field and (iv) their potential applications.
This volume collates the recent developments and innovations with respect to these microorganisms. This book is meant for researchers, biochemists, industries, and government agencies interested in cold active microbes and their products. Also, would be of interest to NGOs and progressive farmers which are working for higher altitude ecosystems throughout the globe.

Cellular Ecophysiology of Microbe: Hydrocarbon and Lipid Interactions By Tino Krell
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018| 599 Pages | ISBN : 3319505408 | 16.8 MB

This book assembles concisely written chapters by world-leaders in the field summarizing recent advances in understanding microbial responses to hydrocarbons. Subjects treated include mechanisms of sensing, hydrocarbon tolerance and degradation as well as an overview on hydrophobic modification of biomolecules. Other chapters are dedicated to issues related to the reduced bioavailability of hydrocarbons, which differentiates this class of compounds form many others, but which of central importance to understand the ecophysiological consequences.

This book is an enriched edition of invertebrate zoology and is a useful source of information for researchers and students in various disciplines. In recent years, a paradigm shift in research on invertebrates has occurred under the backdrop of climate change and environmental contamination. This important shift in the research is well reflected in this book.
