LaShawn D. Gary is an Emmy Award Winning Producer, Composer, Smooth Jazz Artist and Pianist. He is a native of Detroit, Michigan and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Instrumental Music Education from Southern University A&M College, and earned a Masters of Music Education Degree from the University of Louisville. LaShawn has released seven Smooth Jazz singles: “Now is the Time (2019) ”, “Love, Peace & Praise (2020)”, “Inception, featuring Mark Whitfield (2021)”, “Line Brothers (2021)”, “On the Yard” (2022), “Transitions” (2022) and “For Your Love (feat. Willie Bradley)” (2023).

The German composer Johanna Senfter was born in Oppenheim on the Rhine in 1879. In 1895 she began to study composition (with Iwan Knorr), violin (Adolf Rebner), piano (Karl Friedberg) and organ (Heinrich Gelhaar) at the Hoch Conservatoire in Frankfurt on the Main. From 1908 to 1910 she was a pupil of Max Reger who had recognized her musical talent and encouraged her to undertake additional studies in his composition class at the Royal Conservatoire of Leipzig which she completed with distinction in 1909. In 1910 she received the Arthur Nikisch Prize for the best student composition of 1909.

The percussionist András Dés, who has been living in Vienna for five years, has formed a quartet with two Austrian musicians, Martin Eberle and Philipp Nykrin, and his old bandmate Márton Fenyvesi, who is now also based in Vienna, to capture the essence of European jazz: diversity, openness and the power of listening to each other.

Washington D.C.-based jazz pianist Geoffrey Dean releases his new quartet album Foundations featuring the great Harish Raghavan on bass as well as Justin Copeland on trumpet, and Eric Binder on drums. Dr. Geoffrey Dean is a jazz pianist, composer, author and educator currently performing in the Washington DC area. Dean has recorded and performed with notable jazz musicians across the globe including Terell Stafford, Steve Turre, Greg Tardy, and many others. Dr. Dean recently published an educational book on jazz harmony titled Kenny Kirkland's Harmonic and Rhythmic Language: A Model For The Modern Jazz Pianist. Dean has also contributed as an author on modern jazz piano approaches for the Masterclass series in Downbeat Magazine.

After two years and a half, Pietro Santangelo (formerly Nu Genea sax player) and his PS5 ensemble are back to Hyperjazz Records with a brand new album: Echologia. 'Echologia' draws inspiration from the idea of natural biodiversity as an expression of contamination, coexistence and balance. In the same way as the biological agents contribute to the life of a certain ecosystem, seemingly distant musical languages act as elements of balance in a fertile and blooming musical system. Multiculturalism becomes coexistence.

On this album (also available as LP – expected February) frontman Efraïm Trujillo introduces the Blueshorn - an Eb saxophone that has been especially created to reach – or in this case: preach - a bluesy, southern swampy jazz sound. Trujillo studied the subject intensely and got mastered for that at the Amsterdam Conservatory. Quite a trio, for Rob Mostert plays the pedals of his B3 organ with bare feet, the music literally comes from his toes, and drummer Chris Strik was praised in Slagwerkkrant as 'the most agile drummer in the Netherlands'. And they won an Edison (Dutch Grammy) for their album Blue in 2019. With a 20+ dates tour coming up these Preacher Men certainly deserve a loud “Hallelujah”!

This album by Pierre do Sameiro, the first to be released under his own name, evokes the songs of Jean Ferrat, the films of Pier Paolo Pasolini, his years of apprenticeship at the Centre des musiques Didier Lockwood (CMDL), his attendance at Paris jam sessions and his encounters with Olivier Temime, Jérôme Sabbagh, Stéphane Guillaume and André Villéger, which led him to become a musician recognized by his peers.

Award winning composers and musicians John Rae and Ben Wilcock have produced a stunning 14 song collaboration of original material. Hard Bop Messengers’ latest creative project focuses on jazz interpretations of the Grateful Dead.
John Covelli, a 38-year veteran of the St. Louis music scene, leads his Messengers into new territory, captured in this live performance at the Kirkwood performing Arts Ccenter in St. Louis, MO. The group shared a preview of this new creative endeavor with audiences at their “Live at The Last Hotel” performances in St. Louis and Chicago in 2022. A medley of “New Speedway Boogie” with an improvised segue into “Cumberland Blues” was a big hit with listeners and left the crowd asking for more.

Listening to the debut album of Michał Aftyka's quintet is like taking a walk through the Museum of Lost Flavours. This jazz double bass player from the town of Bełcząc near Radzyń Podlaski recently won the main prize in the national competition for improvised music WSPÓŁBRZMIENIA. The voracious appetite for novelty in all spheres of our life often causes us to fall into the trap of momentariness, or worse, of conservatism. In the Museum of Lost Flavours, we make a connection between these two oppositional attitudes.

Eight original compositions, bold and characterful, all written by the quartet members and some improvised ‘chips’ on the theme of Materical, which gives the name to the band. These are the elements of the first album of this formation that starting from jazz, crosses different worlds of sound. In their music, swing is a basic element even when it is subterranean, useful in revealing the evocative power of the compositions rather than embellishing them in a mannered process.
Materical seeks a theatrical arrangement of the sound performance, through an incessant dialogue between the musicians. The absence of an overt leader is a precise choice for a collective responsibility for the development of the music.

The Austrian clarinetist Pierre Pichler; who has also made a name for himself as a conductor of numerous orchestras; combines works for clarinet and piano from the “Golden Age” of the clarinet (which one might declare starting with Mozart’s works for this instrument) to the 20th century together with the pianist Albert Frantz on his album “SONUS”.

Following the critical success that greeted his Odradek debut album Exodus (music by Korngold and Zeisl), violinist Johannes Fleischmann, known as the ‘Viennese Violinist’, returns in the company of pianist Christoph Ulrich Meier with Solitaire. Solitaire may denote a single set gemstone as well as a single piece in general. This album's programme consists of little-known individual works for violin and piano, all of them musical gems by famous composers, many of whom influenced each other. ‘Solitaire’ also means ‘lonely, alone’ and thus coincides with violinist Joseph Joachim's motto ‘free but lonely’. Famous violinists who inspired composers are also a common thread running through the programme.

C’est La Vie is Sean Poluk’s fourth album with 10 original acoustic slide guitar tracks. Recorded and produced by Sean himself, this album reflects his own true self and vision. Hailing from Sudbury Ontario Sean’s style has been inspired by the acoustic blues from the Mississippi hills and the delta with a hint of trance blues.
