One of the key albums when talking about psychedelic hard-rock and early proto-metal, originally released in 1969. Featuring the great John Cann (The Attack, Atomic Rooster, Hard Stuff…) on guitar plus Mick Hawksworth (Fuzzy Duck, Alvin Lee) on heavy bass plus the powerful drumming of Ian McLane (Neat Change, Ray Owen’s Moon). Andromeda was formed during the final days of Cann’s previous band The Attack, when he decided to go in a full heavier & proggier musical direction. Recruiting his friend/room mate Mick Hawksworth on bass plus drummer Jack McCulloch (of One In A Million, soon to be replaced by Ian McLane), the power-trio was born. After initial interest from John Peel (Dandelion) and Kit Lambert (Track Records), Cann decided to go with a major label, RCA, who offered him the chance to self-produce their first album. Recorded at Advision Studios, the impressive Andromeda debut was released in 1969, housed in a sleeve designed by John with photos by Gered Mankowitz. But despite receiving excellent reviews and the band playing lots of gigs (some of them billed above bands like Black Sabbath), RCA didn’t know what to do with such a heavy rock band.

American jazz pianist Les McCann, was born in Lexington, Kentucky. He grew up in a musical family of four, a brother and three sisters, with most of McCann's family singing in church choirs. His father was a fan of jazz music and his mother was known to hum opera tunes around the house. As a youth, he played the tuba and drums and performed in his school's marching band. As a pianist, McCann was largely self-taught. He later explained he only received piano lessons for a few weeks as a six-year-old before his teacher died. This collection features eight original albums by Les McCann, all in remastered quality, and all spanning the golden years of McCann's musical career, 1960 - 1963, when the great man's musical potency was at its most pronounced. Featuring too accompanying musicians who made up his esteem Trio, and other notables with whom he recorded and performed. A perfect starting place for those wishing to familiarise themselves with this maverick musician's finest work, the compilation additionally functions as the ultimate collection for jazz fans everywhere.

Between 1955 and 1960 Buddy Collette released a number of superb albums on which he acted as leader, put out by a range of different labels (unlike many of his contemporaries, Collette was never associated with one specific record company), such as Contempo, Bel Canto, Speciality, ABC, and EmArcy. He also worked alongside a number of back-up players on these records, but rarely worked with the same bands regularly. It is from this fertile period for Buddy Collette that the eight original albums that make up this collection are drawn. Featuring such fine works as, Tanganyika, Man of Many Parts, Calm, Cool & Collette, Everybody's Buddy and Nice Day with Buddy Collette, this 4CD set provides a great starting place for new adherents to this great man's music and talents, as well as a delightful reminder for those already somewhat versed.

Born January 13, 1929, Joe Pass was an American jazz guitarist. Well known for his work stemming from numerous collaborations with pianist Oscar Peterson and vocalist Ella Fitzgerald, Pass is often esteemed as one of the most notable jazz guitarists of the 20th century. This 4CD collection features eight original Joe Pass albums on which he performed as leader, all in re-mastered editions, and all from Joe's 'golden years' - the period 1962 to 1966. Recorded when the great man was signed exclusively to The Pacific Jazz label, and when he was at the pinnacle of his career, this collection serves as a fine starting point for beginners to this maverick jazz man's art, and as a fine reminder to those already somewhat versed.

Hampton Hawes, “For Real!” was recorded in 1958 but not released on the Contemporary Records label until 1961. Featuring Hawes (piano) alongside Harold Land (tenor sax), Scott LaFaro (bass) and Frank Butler (drums) the album incudes a mixture of both jazz standards and originals. This new edition features remastered hi-res audio from the original tapes.

It's appropriate that the great Freddy King is pictured on the disk cover; he's got two of his best on the album: "Hide Away" and "Have You Ever Loved a Woman", the latter surely one of the most searing and emotionally impassioned performances in the entire blues pantheon. This disk is absolutely crammed with bonafide blues classics from the likes of Howling Wolf, Elmore James, Slim Harpo, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Earl Hooker, and B.B. King.

This fill-in-the-gaps compilation of early-'60s sessions includes six tracks (two of them alternate takes) that were previously only available on the box set The Complete Riverside Recordings, and three previously unissued alternate takes from the performance that yielded the 1961 live album The Montgomery Brothers in Canada. Even with just nine tracks, Montgomery is heard in a variety of contexts: the ballad "If I Should Lose You" performed by the Montgomery Brothers (an alternate take), the 1962 live version of "S.O.S." with Johnny Griffin and Miles Davis' 1959-62 rhythm section (another alternate take), four 1963 songs with organist Melvin Rhyne, and the three unreleased 1961 Montgomery Brothers cuts (two of which are different versions of "Stella By Starlight") with vibraphonist Buddy Montgomery…
