For her debut CD, pianist Olga Chelova has chosen Robert Schumann's "Kreisleriana", the "Grandes etudes de Paganini" by Franz Liszt and the "16 Waltzes op. 39" by Johannes Brahms in the four-hand version, which she has recorded together with her mentor Philippe Entremont.Since 2016 Olga Chelova has been a "Young Steinway Artist". In 2019, she received the "International grant for highly gifted artists" from the Ernst Ludwig Studienwerk (ELES) in Berlin. As a prize-winner of this institution, she moved to Paris, where she received important musical stimuli from Maestro Philippe Entremont and performed together with this legendary pianist and conductor.

Christian Wolff was once the baby of the New York School, only 19 when he cast his lot with John Cage, Morton Feldman, and Earle Brown; in 2008, he is the last man standing. Solo piano music is central to Wolff's output, and on Neos' Christian Wolff: Piano Pieces, German pianist Sabine Liebner performs a nice cross section of his efforts in this medium from 1969 to 2006. It takes a pianist with some amount of insight to realize Wolff's compositions, all to some degree open ended, and he does not spell out all of the details.

The program on this CD focuses on two essential aspects of Pierre Boulez's uvre: his love of theater and his consistent search for ways of spatializing sounds through electronics.In "Dialogue de l'ombre double" from 1985 it is still a pre-produced tape recorded by the interpreter himself which, together with the live sounds, symbolizes the clarinetist's "double shadow". In "Anthèmes 2", written around ten years later, the acoustic labyrinth in which the soloist finds herself is generated entirely by means of live electronics. The basic idea for this was already laid out in "Anthèmes 1" for solo violin, created in 1991 as a mandatory work for the Yehudi Menuhin competition.Pierre Boulez has worked with the SWR Experimental Studio since it was founded in the early 1970s. In this recording the instrumental parts were excellently cast with Carolin and Jorg Widmann.

Moritz Eggert n’avait jamais eu grand-chose en commun avec le sport jusqu’à ce qu’on lui propose, fin 2004, de composer pour la Ruhrtriennale 2005 un oratorio en rapport avec le football. L’œuvre fut composée en cinq mois seulement, de début mars à fin juillet. À la suite de la création à la Jahrhunderthalle Bochum, la pièce fut intégrée au programme culturel de la Coupe du monde 2006 et connut deux représentations au Komische Oper Berlin. Outre ce football-oratorio, d’autres pièces en rapport avec ce sport furent écrites, telles que Ballack, du geile Schnitte (« Ballack, t’es canon », 2007) ou, pour le Bal de l’Opéra de Vienne 2008, Am Ball – Ein Fußballett (« Bal(le) dansant – Un foot-ballet »), une composition qui fit alors quelques remous auprès du public conservateur. Du jour au lendemain Eggert a ainsi gagné ses galons de « foot-compositeur » : il est l’un des compositeurs contemporains les plus connus et, comme il le dit lui-même, l’un de ceux dont le « goût de l’aventure » est le plus prononcé.
