While it still lies much closer to Nashville than Key West (like in the boisterous slide guitar solo that lights up "The Great Filling Station Holdup"), Jimmy Buffett's A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean does begin to delineate the blowsy, good-timin' Key West persona that would lead him to summer tour stardom and the adoration of millions of drinking buddies everywhere. "Why Don't We Get Drunk," "Railroad Lady," and "Grapefruit – Juicy Fruit" rightly became crowd pleasers. But Buffett reveals himself a storyteller with the touching sigh of "He Went to Paris," where a slide guitar appears again to lend a subtle gleam to the arrangement, or in the gorgeous, sweetly sad tale of a passed-away poet's unlikely posthumous success. It's in this wide-eyed honesty, as well as the winking sarcasm of the scrambling honky tonker "Peanut Butter Conspiracy" – "We never took more than we could eat/And we always swore if we ever got rich, we'd pay the mini mart back" – that Buffett's flair for easygoing accessibility really emerges.

Mark Knopfler’s tenth solo studio album, One Deep River, features 12 unhurriedly elegant new songs, with his warm Geordie vocal tone, poetic storytelling lyrics and deft, richly melodic guitar playing all present and dazzling as ever. Steely Dan's gold-selling third studio album Pretzel Logic, charted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and restored the group's radio presence with the single "Rikki Don't Lose That Number," which became the biggest pop hit of their career and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The 1974 album was produced by Gary Katz and was written primarily by Walter Becker (bass) and bandleader Donald Fagen (vocals, keyboards). The album marked the beginning of Becker and Fagen's roles as Steely Dan's principal members.

Returning after three years with their second studio album, Double Dog Dare, WHITE DOG have been revelling in a state of creative flux and are poised to share their revelations with the world. Formed in 2015 in Austin, Texas, White Dog began with a shared vision of blazing, fuzzed-out rock that drew gleefully from their home city’s rich cultural melting pot. Walter Becker and Donald Fagen were remarkable craftsmen from the start, as Steely Dan's debut, Can't Buy a Thrill, illustrates. Each song is tightly constructed, with interlocking chords and gracefully interwoven melodies, buoyed by clever, cryptic lyrics. All of these are hallmarks of Steely Dan's signature sound, but what is most remarkable about the record is the way it differs from their later albums. Of course, one of the most notable differences is the presence of vocalist David Palmer, a professional blue-eyed soul vocalist who oversings the handful of tracks where he takes the lead. Palmer's very presence signals the one major flaw with the album – in an attempt to appeal to a wide audience, Becker and Fagen tempered their wildest impulses with mainstream pop techniques.

Band Seamlessly Blends Folk, Country, Rock, and Blues Elements: Quadruple-Platinum Effort Marks Co-Founder Bernie Leadon's Final Appearance on an Eagles Record. One of These Nights occupies an important, unique place in The Eagles' discography given it represents the final album the group made before releasing the bajillion-selling Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) compilation. The timing is telling. A coming-out party for Glenn Frey and Don Henley's songwriting skills, the studio record - the band's fourth, and it's first to hit #1 on the charts - signifies the group's ascent to superstar status.

Wilkinson Tri-Cycle's only album is similar to post-psychedelic heavy rock recordings by East Coast groups like Sir Lord Baltimore and Yesterday's Children in that they combine bluesy heavy rock with psychedelic flourishes, but the effect is largely unremarkable. The album is nonetheless treasured by European collectors, who reportedly command a high price for the LP. Highlights include their cover of Sleepy John Estes' "Leaving Trunk," popularized at the time by Taj Mahal, and the Beatlesque ballads "Poursha Poe" and the elegant "Yellow Wall." It was actually released on a little-known R&B subsidiary of CBS, Date Records.

Springsteen pays tribute to Woody Guthrie with a set-opening, debut cover of "Tom Joad" on Akron 9/25/96. Even without playing the title track, Akron captures one of Bruce's purest performances on The Ghost Of Tom Joad tour. The 23-song set features eight songs from the album, the then-unreleased "It's The Little Things That Count," standout readings of "Nebraska," "Atlantic City" and "Reason To Believe," plus Born In The U.S.A. outtakes "Murder Incorporated" and the striking "Shut Out The Light."

Paul McCartney and Wings will reissue their classic 1973 album, Band on the Run, for its 50th anniversary. Out February 2, 2024, the record will be expanded with two alternate versions: one in Dolby Atmos, the other “underdubbed,” meaning the orchestral parts have been removed. “This is Band on the Run in a way you’ve never heard before,” reads a quote attributed to McCartney in the press release. “When you are making a song and putting on additional parts, like an extra guitar, that’s an overdub. Well, this version of the album is the opposite, underdubbed.”

Genesis ‘BBC Broadcasts’ is an extensive collection of broadcast material from one of the biggest selling recording artists of all time and one of Britain's most internationally renowned bands. Curated by founder member Tony Banks and the group’s long-time engineer and producer Nick Davis it is available as 23-track triple LP.

Robert Plant is celebrating the second season of his hugely popular podcast, Digging Deep with Robert Plant, with the release of a very special limited edition 7’’ singles boxed set. DIGGING DEEP includes 16 A-sides and rare B-sides spanning three decades, remastered versions available on vinyl for the first time. The eight-disc collection also features restored artwork from the original 7’’ releases, packaged in a bespoke hardback book.

From the wreckage of Free came Bad Company, the English hard rock supergroup fronted by singer Paul Rodgers and featuring his drummer bandmate Simon Kirke, Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs, and King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell. Peter Grant, who managed the rock band Led Zeppelin, also managed Bad Company until 1982.

On October 13th, Round Records will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Cats Under The Stars with a pair of 180gram vinyl reissues of the classic album. Both editions are now available for pre-order here. Recorded and mixed in 1977 at the Grateful Dead’s Club Front, Cats Under The Stars represents Garcia’s 4th solo studio record and the only studio record presented as the Jerry Garcia Band. Garcia enlisted John Kahn, Ron Tutt as well as Keith & Donna Godchaux for the recordings with contributions from Merl Saunders and Maria Muldaur, among others. The album’s iconic cover art was created by Stanley Mouse who drew his inspiration from Egyptian iconography while the Grateful Dead were planning their landmark performances at the Great Pyramids of Giza.
